Summertime is here
Summertime is here
POOP EVERYWHERE...
Summertime is here which means that Weddings and picnics are the norm... which means we get asked to something every weekend it seems. Last weekend was John “Snax” MacMurray’s wedding which I was asked to be in his sword detail. The day started out as a normal Saturday of mowing the yard and taking care of some small tasks around the house. We thought we were getting on the road in plenty of time until we hit the interstate and were bumper to bumper all the way north. Traffic was horrible. We pulled into the Valet’s area as the wedding was supposed to be starting (which, lucky for us, was running late as all weddings do). Katie took charge of getting Grace out of the car and into the stroller as I finished racing into my uniform and grabbing my gear to hit the wedding. Katie’s first “fun” was POOP EVERYWHERE. The car seat, the cover Katie put over the car seat, Gracie’s dress... So, imagine the conversation between Katie and the Valet as he was asked to give a hand holding a baby as Katie cleaned...
Then...
As she cleaned, she put Gracie in the stroller. The next “fun” Katie had was hearing a thud as Gracie dove from the stroller onto the pavement...
The evening came to a beautiful conclusion with a happy couple and a poopy outfit in the trash.
The next “fun” time we had was waking up at 1030ish on Thursday night to Gracie screaming bloody murder. Her breathing was rough and irregular and she was burning up. After a call to the triage nurse we were off to the Emergency Room. It is hard to tell the ER nurse that your daughter is sick when she is giggling at everyone in the waiting room. When they did take us back, she had a 102 degree fever but after 4 hours of tests, they confirmed that she only had a bug. After some more Tylenol, her fever was down and we were ready to head home for the last couple of hours of sleep.
Yup, it is official - we are parents! Welcome to the world of Poop and Sick Kids! But at least we got a new family photo...
